Office hours were 30 minutes later this week because of a doctor’s appointment I have.
If you have a question for me, you can email it to me in advance to TheBigGameHunter(at)gmail.com. In the subject line, put, “Office Hours.”
You can also put it into chat during the Livestream.
I addressed a number of questions about job search, hiring, managing, leading, and workplace issues.
My boss purposely makes all interview candidates wait 1 hour past the scheduled interview time. This is their “filtering” method, as they refuse to consider anyone who leaves during the 1+ hour wait. Is this legal?
A recruiter scheduled a zoom interview on Sep 7th, but was a no show. I emailed him and he said he was unexpectedly out of the office so he rescheduled to Sep 8th for 11:00 am at 10:50 am he changed it to [1:30], but he didn’t show up for the interview?
If you apply for a job and the person interviewing keeps changing the interview dates and doesn’t respond in a timely manner after you respond about availability to interview, is that a good sign that it’s probably not a good place to work?
What do you do when you utilize certain skills related to your current job, have first-hand experience and/or knowledge of skills outside your organization, but ultimately are disqualified when you apply to other jobs?
What are some sneaky useful features on LinkedIn?
What if HR felt that my salary expectation was high. I did not find out what the position offered, but in general, told them my salary. How can I go back to them and say I am negotiable if that is what is keeping them to hire me?
It is an indication that this person doesn’t treat hiring as a priority or that they are much too busy
Is it too much or out of place to send multiple emails to a recruiter in anticipation of a response after a successful interview?
If you look at a resume of two candidates, one has worked for many different companies (1-2 years at each company) and one has worked at only one company for 7 years. Who would you hire and why? (Ignore other factors)
Which is the least expensive method for recruitment?
Can a company fire me for “poor work performance” only after three days and with no reasonable steps to help me improve and/or no written or verbal warning on my work production?
If a company hires you as a supervisor for $15/hour, can they demote you 2 months later and expect you to work as a regular employee for $10/hr. because a new hiring manager made a mistake when you were hired?
Why do some employers feel employees who work from 9-5 and punch in at or around 9 and punch out at or around 5 “aren’t dedicated enough”?
