Benjamin Franklin on Management and Leadership | No BS Management Advice

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

There’s a wonderful quote from Benjamin Franklin that is the basis for the quote.

Now, for a lot of you, you’ve adopted a mindset that says, “I can, through force of will, through determination, personally persevering through many difficulties. I can be successful.” It’s a great attitude to have and wouldn’t it be a lot easier if you made it easier around you. For a lot of solopreneurs, for a lot of individuals, maybe involved with a job search or building a business, they adopt that attitude because they’re fearful of spending money. You’re fearful. They’re just fearful. Let’s leave it at that. I don’t want to list many of the reasons. it doesn’t matter what the reasons are. Ultimately, fear’s the reason that they use in order to explain away why they have to make it hard on themselves.

Now, in our modern times, there’s a lot of ways to make it easier and there are tasks that you could send offshore that allow you to get the results that you want. There are people that, you know, who’d do you a favor and give you advice, and the business advice that you’d get from them is terrific.

But think of it this way. It doesn’t have to be as hard, difficult, painful, or take as long if you think creatively and you look at what results you want to play for, What you want to get out of this situation, where you want to go to and start working backwards to create an environment that supports you with doing that. Mentors, coaches, people who might work as virtual performers, virtual assistants.

A lot of different ways to deal with these days that didn’t exist a long time ago. You don’t have to tough it out. You can compete effectively by building a network of people around you that support what you do.
