When you’re an employee, you’re always dependent upon someone else to make decisions about your safety and security. Most of the time, people hide out. They’re well-behaved. They are nice. And they think by hiding, they’re immune to being laid off.
Frankly, working for an employer is risky. Hiding is risky. Being nice can be risky. Being world-class at what you do doesn’t guarantee anything, but you have a good mindset. Firms are less willing to let go of someone like you.
I’m going to tell you point blank, get out there and hustle. Be great at what you do. Take risks. Risk, everything.
