Tough Love for Job Hunters About Using LinkedIn

If you have an upcoming pre-recorded video interview, which is also known as an asynchronous video interview, don’t stress. With the right preparation you can ace it. I’m Jeff Altman, interviewThe Big Game Hunter. I started to be called The Big Game Hunter when I did recruiting because I’ve hunted down leaders and staff for organization. Did it for a long time. And now people hire me for no BS job search advice and career coaching globally, because I make everything easier for people.

So here are my top five tips for you with some enhancements to them. First of all, practice on camera. Set up your computer, iPad, phone to record yourself answering common interview questions. Review your footage and refine your answers. But also look at how you appear on camera. Are you making eye contact with someone from your camera? Do you pop against your background, what should you wear against the background so that you stand out in a good way. Practicing will help you feel comfortable on camera.

Now number two is look at the job description. Look for the key skills and requirements and use them to guide your answers. You always want to be connecting the dots between what they need and what you can deliver for them. Show how you are uniquely qualified for this position, because a hiring manager wants to see that you match what they need.

Number three, watch your body language. Sit straight, look engaged, smile, make eye contact and avoid fidgeting or distracting mannerisms. Nonverbal cues matter. As I mentioned earlier, look at your surroundings. Look for a quiet spot with a simple background. Make sure the lighting looks well on your face.

A professional setting will help you.

Lastly, dress professionally for that firm from top to mid chest because you’re on camera. And they’re going to be able to see you on camera. Look well. I’m not saying todress in business attire, but properly for that organization. Avoid busy patterns, and noisy jewelry that can be distracting. Prepare and practice. This will help you a lot as you go into this asynchronous interview. Now, win.
