(from the archives) A short time-saving tip. I would add LinkedIn to the places mentioned in the video.
Hi, I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I'm referred to as The Big Game Hunter, because I coach people to play their game big. HUGE! All that sort of stuff. And I'm going to be back to doing periscope again, I think it's a time saver for me, but I'm gonna do it a little bit differently. And for a while, I'm going to do tips that can be implemented in just a few minutes that are going to move your job search forward. Overall, this is going to be a series on playing your game big. This tip is about setting up alerts so that jobs are delivered to you so you not wasting time going out looking for them. A lot of people spend way too much time searching job boards for jobs that in no way shape or form fit them. And as a result, piss away WAY too much time. Instead, set up alerts. Go to Indeed. Go to Simply Hired. Go to Monster. And if you're in unique spaces, you know, like technical skills, accounting skills and the like, go to specialized job boards. Set up alerts. Get it over with. Hoave the alerts, have the jobs delivered to your inbox. Don't waste time going and looking at job boards for leads. Most of the time, all you're doing is pissing your time away. As a result, you know, spend the time in better ways. Networking is the obvious place and and I say that because the statistics bear it out. I'm a headhunter and coach. And I'll tell you recruiters fill three percent of all positions. Job boards fill 6% or, or maybe it's the other way around. I get the numbers confused. So I know recruiters sometimes use job boards. So let's say together they are involved with 10 to 12% of all positions get filled using their services. The rest of them are being filled through networking. And within that there's a subcategory most people don't know that 70% of all positions are filled as a result of introductions that are made to people who you don't know at the beginning of the search, who introduce you to jobs that are involved. So instead of wasting time with job boards, instead, play big. Get this nonsense out of the way and just get alerts delivered to you that fit your background, and then go network. I'll do more about networking in 15 minutes or less in future scopes and videos. I'm Jeff Altman. Visit my website, TheBigGameHunter.us.
