I'm Jeff Altman,, The Big Game Hunter and I'm here to answer the question of
"What are three qualities of leadership," that gets asked on interviews for people
at a manager level and above. Now, there are many qualities of
leadership but I'm just going to provide you with a few
that i know of and start off by simply saying they're only asking for three.
You don't have to give them every one under the planet.
That is not the point of this. But when you think of leadership and what makes a
good leader-- honesty and integrity, confidence, the
ability to inspire others, passion and commitment,
a great communicator, especially in ways that
the team gets it, decision making capabilities. Do they have a process to
make a decision? Accountability. The ability to delegate
and empower people. Creativity and innovation. Empathy.
Resilience. Emotional intelligence. Humility.
Transparency. Vision and purpose. These are 15
qualities that i know of and i'll just simply say
they're asking for three and they're going to ask you to talk about
some of these qualities, whichever three that you answer and
expect that they might follow up by asking you the behavioral interview
questions. Well, tell me about a time where you
exercised resilience or you were humble or displayed
emotional intelligence. Be prepared with stories to illustrate this especially at
a manager level because part of what they're looking for
isn't your ability to demand respect.. It is the ability to earn
the support of your people. After all, managing is about getting stuff done.
Leading is the quality that you're able to connect with someone and
inspire their confidence so they want to do things for you, not
because you're bossing them around. Hope you found this
helpful. I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter.
