People always tell you to role-play before an interview, do mock interviews. And the mistake is most of you are going to role-play with people who give you an A every time. “Oh, you did so well! Maybe you could tweak this little thing here over here”. And getting an easy grade doesn’t really toughen you up. It doesn’t really get you ready for the interview.
Instead, look for people who are hard graders. People who are going to give you a rough time. Listen to what they have to say. After all, you need to learn what you’re doing wrong. And the nice people, the ones who will never tell you what your mistakes are, unfortunately, they’re so nice, they’re not helpful. What you need also, in addition to the easy graders, are some tough ones too, because they are going to get you really ready for what the interview is going to feel like.
