You know you’re going to have to write a resume one day. This makes it easy.

Recession-Proof Your Career – 7 Ways to Make Sure You Land Your Next Job Stress-Free

Recession-proofing your career requires that you take proactive action, and one of the things you’ll need to do is accumulate a list of your successes and  ideally, the easiest way to do this is extemporaneous. Keep a job journal or a file on your computer, not at the office, but on your phone, perhaps on an iPad, where you record the problems you solve the successes that you had, the way you responded to things that will relate to a story you might tell on an interview. Keep all this stuff recorded for yourself so if you need to write a resume, it’s going to be available to you.

Make sure that the successes can be translated into dollars:
    1. Money earned
    2. Money saved
    3. Losses avoided, directly
    4. Fines, fees, embarrassment and loss of goodwill avoided – indirect losses avoided.

Examples – the sales lead system I put in allowed for a 25% increase in YOY sales by reducing the number of hangups. We saved $1M by migrating all phone service from PSTN to SIP. We built a redundant sales tax calculation system that saved $100K in cost to the company.
We remediated the IBM OnDemand SOX-compliant document repository system ahead of the yearly audit, with full auditor buy-in.

@JobSearchTV job search on full warp. Long story short, a certain singer’s comment cascaded to a business deal going bad and suddenly the fallout killed budgets in a retailer. I’ll laugh about it one day.
