I’ve been part of conversations where someone tried to put words in my mouth.
“So what you’re saying is . . . “
“No, what I said is . . . “
People put words into someone’s mouth because they weren’t listening, are manipulating the situation or perhaps, don’t understand.
If you don’t understand, it is so much better to simply say, “I’m having a brain cramp and having trouble understanding what you saying. Could you tell me one more time a little bit differently let me see if I can understand,” than to try to put words into someone’s mouth.
