A lot of people I know are praised to the heavens for the work that they do, and are promised advancement opportunities and promotions that amount to nothing.
They develop resentment over being lied to . . . And understandably so.
They don’t play the game and incur the consequences.
What’s the game?
Reminding people of the praise, promises and commitments that have been made to you that are left unfulfilled without any expectation that they ever will be fulfilled.
At the same time, while you’re pushing your current employer to deliver, you want to work at get the hell out of there and away from those liars.
You see, people get ahead by being alert to opportunities. Most of the time, those opportunities are outside of their organization because people take them for granted.
However, if the internal one is best, take it!
However, expect nothing from your current firm and work at extricating yourself from it. After all, they have learned that they can manipulate you by “whispering sweet nothings in your ear.”
