When people feel desperate, often, they open themselves to greater possibilities because they have less to lose. Sometimes, they make bad decisions and put themselves in harm’s way. Most of the time, when people have nothing to lose, they have everything to gain.

I was listing to an interview with Curt Jones, founder little company may have heard of— Dippin’ Dots. As often happens in stories like this, they were times where success was not guaranteed and failure was almost certain. But Jones eventually figured his way through this, even by selling and what a million machine to someone to do what he was doing and, perhaps, compete with him. After all, he needed the money.

There are places where I know my comfort interferes with me seeing possibilities and opening myself up to them.

Perhaps you feel like I do sometimes.

Sometimes, I realize in time and take self-corrective action. Sometimes, I don’t.

I’m learning how to do things differently and make mistakes.

I’m learning, but I’m not punishing myself for making those mistakes.

I’m opening myself up to new things and new ideas so that I can be even more of who I am.

Who are you?

How can you open yourself up and risk making more mistakes? How can you learn not to criticize yourself?

Remember, even if you make a mistake, the likelihood is you will remain safe and secure.

If you remember that, you can’t fail; you’ll just made a mistake.
