As I was talking with my friend yesterday, he shared a story about a realization he had about stepping into leadership.
It seems when he got approved to assist with running a particular workshop, the head of the review panel came over to them afterwards to say he would’ve been approved to do it for years previously but they were waiting for him to ask.
They were waiting for him to ask.
You don’t need to wait for permission.
You can ask.
Even if you don’t get what you want, you may learn what you need to know in order to get it the next time.
Even if you don’t get what you want, you may learn the evaluation target that they use to decide.
You may wait for the tap on the shoulder for a long time with someone tells you that you ready to step up . . . And that tap may never come because they were waiting for you.
