It isn’t only in the political world the people jump to conclusions. It happens professionally, as well.

I’ve worked in offices where people would come to me with a problem, carrying incomplete information and expecting me to decide how to handle something.

Too often, I jumped at the bait like a fish seeing a hook with a worm on it.

That wasn’t their fault. It was mine.

I fell for it and enjoyed being the one who solved problems for others. With one person, in particular, we played a game of, “What about this?” And I would answer. Then they would give me another piece of data and ask for my opinion… And another… And another.

People are very good at making themselves look good in situations but we operate with incomplete information in politics and that work.

There are things that we aren’t being told in both places that leave us to make decisions.

It is manipulation and we go along with it.

Instead of taking the bait, practice throwing the spoiled fish back in the water for it to rot rather than getting hooked.
