Each year, professional teams throughout the world, no matter what the sport is, draft players that they believe will help them become better. Each year, many of those elite amateur athletes fail despite being identified as world-class performers in their respective sports.
Why do they fail?
Sometimes, as amateurs, they performed in systems that were set up for them to succeed and join the new system where it wasn’t. That reflects a management failure.
Sometimes, they did not have the drive to succeed. That is a management failure for not recognizing that about the athlete and wasting a draft pick.
Sometimes, there is a disconnect between the new athlete and their fit with the team. That is also management mistake for not recognizing how their new draft pick would complement their existing framework.
If you are someone who blames themselves for not performing at a high level with your firm, the likelihood is that your failure was caused by a poor decision and does not rest upon your shoulders. After all, environments win.
Despite statements to the contrary about wanting you to succeed, they kept the friction in place that cause you to fail or perform at a mediocre level of achievement.
That you put up with this is your mistake, not theirs. They have gradually worn down the gears and help you become mediocre or ordinary.
Go somewhere where you can be great.
