So, this is the third video in my series about changing careers. I’m Jeff Altman. And this is going to continue the various steps that I’m teaching for how to evolve.
So, again, take out your iPad or other device that you do writing in. Grab a pen, a piece of paper, a pad and a pen and just get to a comfortable place away from distractions because this is a difficult exercise. So, the question I want you to ask yourself is, what’s going to be most important to you in your next career? What will you need to see or hear to believe it’s a good choice for you? Sounds easy, doesn’t it? But usually, people define things by what they don’t want to do.
They look at their current work and start to feel like there’s a list of no’s there. So, I don’t want to do this. I don’t want to do that.
I’ll give myself as an example. After many years of doing recruiting, I’ve moved into coaching. And one of the things I didn’t like about recruiting is the amount of multitasking.
There’s multitasking in every profession. But this is obscenely heavy multitasking with constant interruptions. I’ve gotten frustrated by that.
So, I start to think of things that would be less so. You’re going to have your list of items that you don’t want to do. And I want you to first create the list and pause the list in order to create the video.
So, pause the video.
