Frustration | Career Angles

There is a fine line between being a victim at work, dead from the neck up, and someone who is a complainer, a whiner . . . and worse.

I was reminded of this dance this morning when I was dealing with an issue with my webhost. I couldn’t access my site and post new content. My IP had been blocked. Earlier, I was in the site and couldn’t do my normal work. Nothing would save and then I couldn’t access the site as well.

I never shouted at the support person or said anything in a way that could have been interpreted as being mad at that.

I became frustrated.

Frustration is self-directed anger. It is often displaced from other situations an, because we learn it is not safe or socially acceptable to express, we express it anyway but targeted at ourselves.

Notice the things that frustrate you and whether you are turning anger toward others back at yourself. What is usually happening? How often is it occurring? How could it have been handled differently so that you wouldn’t have to turn the anger back at yourself.

You’ll feel better. You’ll also learn how to express it more honestly.
