Clichés

A cliché is a 19th century taken word from the French language which refers to a saying or expression that has been so overused that it has become boring and unoriginal.
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
― Dr. Seuss
The thing that we forget about clichés is that they are, generally, true. They connect with us at a time when we feel disconnected from their basic truth.
At work, we join and are excited until one day, we wake up and realize that we are now “resigned” to doing our job.
When we were children, everything was new and exciting. It isn’t just about new toys and new foods to eat, new people to meet and new events. Everything is new and exciting.
Then we start to notice “patterns of familiarity” and start to compartmentalize and categorize people and events at work, in our lives and elsewhere and life loses its wonder and magic. We become resigned to the notion that we can’t change jobs or careers. We start to become resigned in our personal lives that, “The thrill is gone.”
Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
