Build On What Others Have Done Before | Career Angles

All doctors’ offices look the same. All car dealers look the same. All coffee shops look the same.

The look in the field to the environment is no accident. They conjure up memories of previous experiences and allow us to feel comfortable in the environment, knowing what to expect.

You don’t always have to reinvent everything. As a matter of fact, it’s easier to build on the past and then add a twist to it.

For example, most career coaches are really resume writers. I don’t read resumes and never will. By can evaluate their work extremely well PLUS provide the advantage of understanding at a deep level what it’s like to look for work and how to do it well.

I’ve connected with the past and built on it, adding a twist to the familiar that makes me unique.

What can you build on and add your own special twist to?

What do you take that is familiar and make your own?
