An interview Tim Ferriss did with comedian Bill Burr is the basis for today’s show. Enjoy!
I do this show regularly in an effort to instigate some thinking on your part, having you connect with a thought in some way, shape or form is useful?
I was listening to an interview that Tim Ferriss did on his show with a comedian by the name of Bill Burr. Burr spoke about something that happened when he was young, where he was still working his way up the ranks. He was dating someone, making them dinner, and in the middle of the evening, paused for a second and called in to see if he had an opportunity to go on stage at a comedy club. If he gets a, "yes," he tells the woman, "Okay, I'll be back, probably in about an hour and a half. But hang in there. I'll be back. We'll finish dinner and have a lovely time."
So, the woman asks him, "so how much do they pay?"
"Eight bucks." He goes off and he kills it and has a great performance. Just knocks it out and he comes back to his apartment, and he is in such a great mood. He is dancing, he is flying. She pauses for a second and says, "You know, Bill, I wish I had a job where I could make 8 bucks and be dancing like you are."
Folks, I'll asked you the question. If you're not dancing, why are you doing it? Why are you putting up with it?
Life is way too short. As I've said on the show before, a lifetime is not a long time. We like to think of ourselves as being immortal but life has a way of showing us how foolish we are.
Folks, you should be dancing through your life in such joy and delight and if you aren't, maybe it's time to sit down and figure out what to do differently. If you think a coach could help you, I'd love to coach you. Email me at JeffAltman@TheBigGameHunter.us and, in the subject line, put the word "coaching." Describe the situation to me. We'll schedule a time to speak. But I simply say, think like Bill Burr. Are you dancing?
