All Those Cute Terms from 2022 Are Obsolete

Do you remember the term, “The Great Resignation?” How about “The Great Reshuffle?” or “Quiet Quitting?”

It’s so 2022! 😂😂😂

👉If you’ve spent any time on LinkedIn, you have probably noticed the number of “Open to Work” messages in your feed has increased a lot.

👉If you’re talking with friends, family, or colleagues, you already have heard stories about their layoffs or fear of layoffs.

Every day, LinkedIn is reporting on firms that are cutting hundreds, if not thousands of jobs.

👉Although some people are hiring and those are coming through the feed, they are dwarfed by open-to-work notifications.

👉What can you do while you are still employed?👈

✅Update your base resume. You will need to tweak it for each position if you decide to apply for jobs. But get it ready now while you don’t have to. You can also hire a resume writer to do it for you.

✅Update your LinkedIn profile. Turn off notifications in the privacy settings so people you work with aren’t notified that you updated it (it’s under the picture of you in the ribbon). Often resume writers will do that, too.

✅Start reconnecting with people from your past to say, “Hi!” If you have to leave a message, make it clear in your message that you aren’t looking for a job but wanted to reconnect because the economy is a little crazy these days and we may need to help one another. AND How is your wife/husband/partner, the kids, the dog(s), the cat(s)? What are you up to these days. A 20-minute conversation by phone or Zoom. Longer if in person.

That’s it. That lays the groundwork in case you need to take action in case your job is eliminated.
