great question. "A recruiter from a. Fortune 500 company contacted me via
LinkedIn and asked me to apply for position by submitting a resume
I replied appropriately in a few hours but it's been five days and I haven't
heard back. Should I move on?" Well, I don't think you should stay in place under any
circumstance. Frankly, why would you wait for this firm if you're looking for
something else and even if you were passive that is you weren't actively
looking for work in this firm contacted you you just keep doing great work and
don't worry it. If they are interested, they'll get back in touch now five
days feels a little long however let me just walk you through the mechanics you
uploaded a resume. They got four hundred resumes that day because they're a large
firm. They're sorting through it.. Hopefully, you got through the applicant
tracking system. Let's assume you did.. Hiring manager . . . I'm sorry, the recruiter takes
this forwards it to the hiring manager who's not exactly sitting there waiting
with bated breath to hear from you it may take a day or two for them to notice
it in their inbox, right? The recruiter may need to remind them it's in their
inbox but I'll simply say never focus on whether or not . . . "oh! Don't worry about
these things. If they're interested, they're going to be back in
touch. If they aren't, they aren't because that's what firms do these
days. They go dark on people and as a result, if you sit there waiting by the
phone for it to ring, man, you're wasting a lot of your life unnecessarily.
