A gal who became a friend of mine, when interviewed by my supervisor at the time, was told we’ll get you on the fast track. Didn’t take long for her to realize that there was NO track, much less a fast one. Also didn’t take long to figure out that the supervisor was out to better herself and no one else.

So depressing and especially in finance when they blast positions upon positions and sell it so hard to get candidates baited. Afterwards, they just cherry pick and nothing wrong with that but they just through your resume in the black hole. Sometimes I even networked and some senior folks have their own agenda so sometimes the junior person doesnt have much pull sadly. Sorry just venting Jeff 😣

What you are saying is soooo true. No problem with venting. Job hunting is a rigged game and, if you know the street game, with the pea under one of 3 glasses, you are the patsy. just like in that game.

Jeff Altman Thanks Jeff for your insight. Fantastic analogy by the way. Anyone could be easily fooled with that stuff. Im gonna have to start asking the hard questions going into 2019. The problem I have is that being on my best behavior wont get me anywhere if their intentions arent sincere (why would they?). If I come off too assertive they will then say to themselves theres hundreds of other candidates for the role. Its a toss up, and trying to put my poker face and play this game is hard. It drains and sucks the soul out of you sometimes!
