Wartime vs Peace Time | Career Angles

Coffee | Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

Sometimes, you work in organization and it acts as though it is in peace time. The environment is collaborative. Decisions are explained and sometimes re-explained. Time is available to review decisions and bring people into the fold of consensus.

Sometimes, you work in an organization that operates as though it is in wartime. There is no time for consensus. Executive leadership makes decisions and you are expected to fall into line. Before many of you revolt and working in place like this, remember that Steve Jobs operated Apple this way and many of you would’ve been thrilled to work there during his tenure.

Just understand the culture of where you working.
