Transitioning from The Military
By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter simplifies what you need to do in order to successfully transition from the military.
Hi! This is Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I’m referred to as The Big Game Hunter because I’ve been hunting down leaders and staff organizations for 40 plus years. Transitioning from the military to civilian life is complicated on a lot of levels but one of the things I found in talking with people is often they’re getting bad advice.
One of the reasons you were successful in the military is that discipline you were taught, the purpose that you had and the impact that if you didn’t fulfill your goals and responsibilities, other people would get hurt or worse. I’m telling you the same qualities that you demonstrated in the military are going to serve you well in this job search. Don’t believe the bullshit about how you can coach your way in and don’t go for quote the dream job.
Get yourself back to work. Get yourself focused and intense on finding that next organization because the right firm, the right organization is going to revere you for that very quality that made you successful in the military. Again, the dream job advice that you’re getting, all wrong.
There are no dream jobs. You know it and I know it. So, let’s not kid ourselves.
It’s time to get back to work and you’ve got to drive yourself with that same discipline that got you up early in the morning with revelry and at the end of the day, you finished up in great shape, focused, having put in all sorts of effort to make sure that if things got tough, you and everyone around you was ready. That’s what’s going to get you to work. I’m Jeff Altman.
I hope you found this helpful. Go over to my website, TheBigGameHunter.us because there’s things you’re going to need to practice in order to interview well in civilian life. So, I’ve got videos, podcasts, articles I’ve written for my e-zine and for LinkedIn that you can watch, listen to or read there completely free.
Also, if we’re not already connected on LinkedIn, send me a connection request at LinkedIn.com forward slash i n forward slash TheBigGameHunter. I accept connection requests from people worldwide except if you’re a third party recruiter or in a country known for scams or spam. I won’t do it.
Finally, there are a number of my books that are available at the website that you can watch, listen to or read. Order one, order two, order a bundle. I don’t care.
They’re cheap as shit. Just get the advice that you need. I hope this has been helpful.
Hope you have a great day!
