“In the end, just three things matter.
How well we have lived,
How well we have loved,
How well we have
Learn to let go.”
~Jack Kornfeld
The old way of living will never return.
You are fooling yourself if you think we will be returning to what used to be called “normal.”
The term “The New Normal” has been used frequently to describe circumstances far less traumatic than those we’ve experienced over the past year.
No one is planning community mask burnings where a bonfire is lit, and everyone throws their masks in and dances around the fire in celebration of the end.
Maybe, there will be a semblance of a normal where we can hug and kiss one another, see laughter, and share tears in person without the specter of the state walking in with thunderous jackboots to seize our humanity for our own good.
Maybe we won’t be made destitute by our politicians continuing to spend trillions in the name of the greater good but having nothing to do with Covid relief.
Maybe we will be able to work and play together again without fear or desperation.
In the end, so little of our travails will matter.
We have agreed to let go of so much that makes us who we are during this past year.
It will be extraordinary practice for the ultimate letting go.
The clock is ticking.
Our time is running out slowly and inevitably.
The lifetime is not a long time.
