Weight sneaks up on me. A pound here. A pound there. Suddenly there were too many pounds I need to self-correct.

Too much work is much the same thing.

A task here.

Helping someone there.

A new commitment.

A new idea to explore.

Everything adds up until I have to take off things from my professional plate in much the same way as I have to do with the literal plate.

“Do you have a minute,” is never an accurate representation of what is going to be asked for when you say “yes.”

Be generous with your time.

Be cautious with your time.

Regularly, look at your work life and go on a diet from some of the things that you’ve taken on. Offload them onto other people or eliminate them.

Maybe it seemed like a good idea in the past for you to do this thing but it isn’t anymore.

Just because you agreed once doesn’t make it an agreement for life.

Change it.
