What often distinguishes one person from another in an organization is the personality. Often, when I coach someone, that’s the missing dimension in their leadership— they have lived their life trained to conform, to behave, to do what they’re told and do it well. But like a gray suit, there is little that will make us stop and pay attention to it.
Even with the gray suit it’s what’s inside the suit that makes us pay attention.
There is a wild man or woman inside there who was a child was excited and alive. He or she needs to breathe life again.
Do you remember what you were like then?
Remember what it was like to have fun and play, to delight in everything that you do?
It doesn’t have to be that gray and dreary.
So many spend so much time in lives with no passion. I’m not talking about your wife, husband or partner, although when the rest of your life becomes dreary and ordinary it’s hard not to bring it home.
That glimmer of a memory needs to be remembered more.
S/he needs to live in your work, too.
Stop making sense and be passionate again.
