Staying Calm | Career Angles

There is obviously reason to be worried and concerned when talking about COVID-19 (Coronavirus). You and those you care about can become sick and die, a pandemic may occur which would affect all of us AND we don’t know quite what to do.

Becoming another “chattering voice” in the office about this won’t help anyone.

It reminds me of a dear friend who, during the height of the financial crisis, had the presence of mind to say, “it’s terrible what’s happening out there. It will become hard AND I still have to make placements.”

Becoming agitated won’t help you.

If anything, becoming agitated may distract you and hurt you.

People above our pay grade will figure it out.

Our part in this is to focus on what’s right in front of us— our families, our office families and our work.

Even during the bubonic plague when such a large percentage of the world’s population died, the world didn’t end.

It didn’t end with H1N1 (swine flu), SARS or MERS. It probably won’t in this time either.

Focus.

Be great.
