And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son?
And what did you hear, my darling young one?
I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin’
Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world
Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin’
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley
And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard
And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall”
~Bob Dylan “Hard Rain”
There are so many people working at jobs that are starving for value and stay silent in the face of intolerable conditions, all because they are afraid of change. The desire for stability is so profound and ingrained they sacrifice their lives.
I sacrificed years of mine for the stability of a large commission check rather than face up to the fact I was miserable and acting as a stooge.
I sacrificed years filling jobs working for assholes.
I listened to the lies of the people at my clients.
I listened to the lies of the people I referred.
I told the same lies to the people I was placing.
It’s a hard rain gonna fall
