It doesn’t happen often, as a matter fact, no team in Washington DC had won the World Series since 1924. It doesn’t happen often but this team started the season 19-31 and won the World Series. They played and elimination games five times in one them all.

As the first team to win a championship by winning the best of seven series by only wedding games on the road, not at home, they defeated team that had won the most games in the major leagues over the course of the season.

Their starting pitcher couldn’t pitch three days earlier was out there for the final game of the season and, like the team, gutted out a performance what was needed most. They rallied around the motto, “Stay in the fight,” to eventually deliver a knockout punch.

It isn’t easy to become a champion at what you do. It requires the determination, a lot of luck and good fortune, effort and the willingness to stay engaged when things get hard. You can blame others but truthfully that is useful.

Winners find the way to win. It starts with putting pressure on others so that they make mistakes, not you. Sometimes, involves playing with the mind of your opponent so that they make the mistake even while you’re doing very little.

No matter. Winners will figure out how to win.
