When new people join a firm, it’s common for them to go through an adjustment.
“How do we . . . “
“Where do I find . . . “
“Who do I go to for . . . “
Getting people integrated into a firm is the real challenge of on boarding. Having a “buddy” to go to can make a difference the same way as if the office takes the new person to lunch on the first day and answers the questions.
When your new person and these ideas don’t exist, it sends a message that you have to figure things out on your own and that no one gives a rats patootie about you.
Some offices may rationalize this away but, when you talk to new people, the message comes through loud and clear.
