It didn’t take me long to cancel my Netflix subscription when they announced that they were going to add streaming services. I had good Internet for the time but it bothered me to spend more for something that is going to have to trying keep my son off of instead of those little red envelopes with DVDs.

I stayed with those envelopes for about a year before biting the bullet and switching back. They were right; I wasn’t ready. They were.

I remember at the time how Wall Street scowled at the idea of them adding a streaming service. Netflix was right. Wall Street was wrong.

We can all laugh at the past and mistakes people of made. Microsoft almost missed the Internet. Blockbuster could have bought Netflix for next to nothing.

In our culture, where you can break something and make it better by doing something different, instead of incrementally evolving, you need to make the leap and drag your customers with you.

It will be challenging but if you’re right you’ll be ahead of everyone else and win.
