Bad Managers and Good Employees | Career Angles

The statement is often made that good employees don’t leave bad companies. They leave bad managers.

Who said they were a good company?

The financial press?

Their PR department who is there for no other purpose than to promote how wonderful they are?

Your friends?

Your colleagues?

Your neighbors?

I know. Your parents decided for you that they were a good company.

Here is a fact.

That company, its people and its systems hired that person and put them in the position to manage you. They do a lot of incompetent things. Don’t believe me?

Here’s a list of services Google has shut down.

Facebook Failures

Fines imposed upon Goldman Sachs and its business units

Those look like a lot of failures!

Why do we think of them as good companies given how much they fail?

Stop thinking of good companies except as a brand that advantages you Everything else is BS.
