One of the major reasons people go to interview coaches is because they get to final-round interviews and don’t get the job offer. I believe I know why that happens and explain it in this video.

As a coach, people come to me for advice about why they're failing at
their final interviews. I'm Jeff Altman, The. Big Game Hunter. I'm a coach who helps people
professionally in a number of different ways and interview coaching . . . I'm very good at.
And when they tell me, "I keep getting to the final and I'm not being hired,"
it sends a signal to me, and here's what I know is going on.
They're doing very well on earlier rounds as are one or two other people. Firms don't just bring
back one person. They bring back multiples, right? So why don't they choose you? Answer
because something surfaced in an earlier round that gave them cause for pause, that makes them
tempted but not quite ready to choose you, and when they get to the final round, you're kind
of going in there blithely and you haven't done a mental review of the earlier rounds.
You just think everything is going well. In point of fact, they send signals along the way that say,
"we're concerned about this," and you're not speaking to it.
So when you get to the final round, whether they ask you a direct question about that item or not,
you have to proactively discuss that issue so that this way it can get resolved in their minds. Now
does that guarantee you get the offer? No, but it gives you this shot because you have
the self-awareness to review rounds one, two, three, however many rounds there were before,
see where the rough edges were in your background, notice them because they noticed them,
right? And then, from there, deal with them in the final round so they can go, oh! I
understand," and ignore any sort of hesitation that they have. So the missing ingredient is
you're not paying attention to the signals that have been given off in earlier rounds, not
addressing the issues that are of concern to them and thus this the situation is blowing up on you.

What if they say the succeeding candidate has compared to me, more years of experience. And yet, stringed me along 2 interviews? That boggles my mind as if they found that perfect candidate at the very last minute.
