What recruiters know that you don’t. This is another example of that. The example is your personality does matter and you shouldn’t try and adapt yours to please a hiring manager. What you want to be doing is demonstrating the best version of yourself.
On their side, they have a sense of what the hiring manager is like. I’m gonna give simple examples. If you’re an introvert, interviewing with an
extrovert, or vice versa, it may not be a good match. If you’re interviewing for a sales role, and you’re a more shy and quiet individual and they’re looking for a hunter versus a farmer, someone who extends the sales within an existing account, this may not be a fit for you.
What recruiters care about is doing the deal. And when hiring managers evaluate people, they’re looking for someone who can fit within the culture. Now, this is a very basic way of doing it. And I’m giving very black-and-white examples. But look at it from your point of view; look at it from their point of view. I don’t want you to change. I just want you to be the best version of yourself when you interview and let the chips fall where they may.
So, what they know that you may not realize is that your personality does matter in how they try and figure out whether to submit you to one of their clients and whether or not you have a real chance of getting hired.
