No, you won’t be escorted out of the building by “the resignation police.” There is a way to do this well and you are at risk in the future.

Screw all that. Most jobs are I right to work states where an employer can terminate you at will.
You think a job is going to give you a two weeks notice before firing you?
Not to mention, giving a job a two weeks notice gives them grounds to be vindictive. They might just fire you right there just to spite you. Screw em.

I agree and they can damage you at reference check time. I have another video about when it is OK to quit without giving notice.

Nothing happens. Giving 2 weeks notice OFTEN, in a professional environment means *as soon as* you give your 2 weeks notice you are walked out the door.
There is NO risk to your references, it’s illegal for an employer to give a bad reference in all 50 states.
They don’t give you notice when firing you, they don’t give you one for lay offs.
2 weeks notice made sense in the 50s. Today, company loyalty is zilch. There’s no pentions to worry about. *And ALL employment is at will*
Need a reference, get a former coworker.
Corporations don’t care about their people, period.

    1. Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

Firms of a certain size are required to file a WARN notice with the federal government if layoffs will occur. Employers can give bad references. Do a Google search and read what law firms say.

@Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter clearly then that’s not at will employement… that’s a contract. That being said, I suggest Google for you’re own research, you are not required, for at will employement, to ever give a two weeks notice. Ever. Even contacts have stipulations, must be lawful, indentured servitude is so 1950s and no judge will uphold an unlawful contract.
For those living in the real world, at will means just that, at will. You OR the employer can terminate at *any time. No noticed is E V E R required by either party*.
