Tough Interview Questions: If You Were an Animal, What Animal Would You Be?

Interviews are designed to weed out the person who shouldn’t see the hiring manager, who should not really be part of the organization and narrow the pool of possibilities down to a core few.

Now, do you think you should pick a snake or rat or chicken?  I don’t think those are great choices.  But whatever animal you pick, you want to tie the personal qualities that are necessary for the job to that animal.

So, for example, if you are in a support role, then you might pick a dog and talk about his loyalty.  If strength, whether emotional or physical, is a part of the job, you might pick a horse. Monkeys, I think, are known for learning quickly. Ants?  it’s hard work and determination, perseverance . . .  Things along those lines.

Whatever animal you pick, the idea is to tie it back to the qualities that are needed for this job.  So, you can pick a horse and talk about its power, authority, grace . . .  Whatever it is as long as those are attributes that fit the role that you are interviewing for.
