Thunder Beings | Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

There is a mythological figure referred to as “a thunder being” that live in the sky and causes thunder and lightning. They are dangerous and sometimes kill human beings with their power.

In organizations, sometimes thunder beings arise from on high and, with no knowledge of their impact on those way down below, cause irreparable harm.

I thought of that as I worked with someone who is adversely affected by a reorganization and placed into a role he had no business being in, no experience with even though one of the thunder beings thought he did.

It amazed him to see all the angels who rallied around him to help him land in a role he was better suited for and introduce them to search firms and organizations.

Your allies and alliances at work are important but sometimes thunder beings will arise and upset the applecart because they can.

Be aware of what can be unpredictable but spend time aligning yourself with others and be known by those who are capable of helping.
