When Andrew Luck retired from football, he spoke of being trapped in a cycle of “injury, pain, rehab, injury, pain, rehab.” I remember my own cycle of tolerating the intolerable when I worked in search, making apologies and excuses for things that were inexcusable, creating rationalizations for things the took the joy away from the work I did.
For some, trapped in that cycle of “insult, rationalization and apology,” tolerating the intolerable, you can only tune out things for so long before coming back to that fork in the road that you promised yourself never to go down.
