EP 1576 I speak about a stupid resume mistake that can embarrass you and cause you to be immediately rejected

Read Full Transcript

This is 1 of those stupid resume mistakes; I suspect they'll have a playlist of them shortly. This was just so funny.

Someone sent a resume to me a few minutes ago applying for a fairly senior role. I opened the resume up and every correction to his resume that he is ever made is there. I'm staring at all the dates that he is changed to cover up a previous employer. I'm watching all the changes that he made 2 tenses and just makes them look stupid. I'm seeing all the things these crossed out to find certain experiences that he thinks about be interested in. He's right. I wasn't interested in. Had he not show me the markup, I never would've known.

I just want to remind you that there is a function in Microsoft Word . . . You can find it at VIEW==> SHOW MARKUPS. You don't want to send out a resume were person will receive it, open it and see all the changes that you made. It is just so embarrassing when they say to you, "we were interested in talking with you but so that you work with the company and crossed it out. What was that all about?"

How do you explain that one folks? How do you think you can explain that one?
