Stars and Teams | Career Angles

The Houston Astros are in the World Series. The obvious story is Jose Altuve hitting a home run in the bottom of the ninth to win the game.

The unsung story involves the previous batter drawing a walk to put pressure on the reliever. The unsung solely involves defense of plays earlier in the game that saved runs.

The attention will go to the man and we hit the homerun. Yet it’s a team game and without these previous moments, is not in the position to hit that homerun.

So often, organizations focus on the stars and ignore the complementary players that set things up for the stars. The attention the opportunity is given based upon “the magic moment.” Yet none of it would’ve been possible without the effort of other people surrounding the star.

Remember that the next time one of your complementary players that is something that sets things up for one of your stars.
