My wife came to see me this morning, concerned that I was feeling a lot of stress and, for once, asking me to take care of myself because she was going really need me in two months.

It reminded me that when we are hired, whether for staff position or a coach someone, there is an expectation that you will be there when you are needed and that you’re going to have to deliver in reliable and dependable ways.

Any time that you start doing something differently, it may be noticed and cause your manager to feel certain amount of stress and concern as to whether you will be able to deliver when they really need you.

Emotional intelligence doesn’t and at the job interview. It continues on to when you are on board and doing your work.

When you do something atypical, it will be noticed.

Being reliable will be called on and expected.
