It’s Been 4 Months and I Haven’t Heard Anything! | No BS Job Search Advice Radio

EP 2181 Four months have passed and still no feedback. For 2 months, the recruiter didn’t reply to a few of my follow-up emails. Is this a bad sign? If they were to accept me, why would it take so long?

I'm, Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter and welcome. I like to spend some time regularly talking with you that some element of job search. Lately, I've been answering questions from viewers and listeners. If you would like to send the question to me, send it to me at jobsearchradio@gmail.com. I will get to his many as I can.

Today's question… The headline for today show is a condensation. The full question is, "4 months have passed and still no feedback. For 2 months, the recruiter didn't reply to my follow-up emails. Is this a bad sign? If they were to accept me, why should it take so long?" Before answer the question, let me just simply say that if you are interested my coaching you, if you have complex questions, there is information about my coaching you using various tabs at the top of the site. The website is that www.thebiggamehunter.us. Go there. Go exploring. I have a lot of great information there as well.

Is it a bad sign? HELL, YEAH! Are you kidding me? If you went on a date with someone and they call back for 4 months, would you be sitting by the phone and waiting for them to call? Come on! This is no different! Firms tell you things by what they say and by than what they don't say. Their behavior is more important than the words. When you start holding onto hope… It's been 4 months. 1/3 of a year has gone by and they've chosen to communicate with you even though you've chosen to reach out to them for 2 months, there is a message in their behavior that is telling you everything that you should need to know.

Do not wait by the phone like a date waiting for a phone call. Come on! Don't be an idiot! They are telling you that they are not interested. They just don't have the courtesy or the guts to call you more to send you an email. This discourteous behavior should not be rewarded by you holding onto hope that they will contact you. And, if they do contact you, this is what I want you to ask them: "thanks so much. I really appreciate the offer (or, I really appreciate the opportunity to interview. Further). I just have to get this 1 thought out of my mind. The question is, 'Why did it take one third of a year (half of the year. However long it is) for you to get back to me? I'm curious about that. What was going on that took so long?"

Listen to the answer and figure out whether there is an ounce of sincerity or if they are just giving you some crap that seems insincere. That should give you everything you need to know to understand this employer.

So, yes, it is a bad sign. They are not interested. They don't want to call you. They don't even have the courtesy to email you or text you to let you know.

Give it up! Move on to something else
