Let me explain how I see it and how to get ready.
Is Preparation and Research The Most Important Thing When Attending Interviews? | JobSearchTV.com
Welcome, folks. It's Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter and I've got a question from
someone I think the answer will help you is preparation and research the most
important thing when attending job interviews I'm a career coach I've
helped people with job starts hiring more effectively managing and leading
workplace related issues career development a whole host of different
things related to work and when people ask me this I tend to think of them
being a less experienced individual because you know it all starts off with
competence that's the baseline to things. Are you competent to do the role?
now if you have the interview they have a basic belief that you might be after
all your resume demonstrates certain things that they're looking for and from
a personality standpoint, I've always figured out that firms also look
for self-confidence, character, chemistry, maybe a little bit of charisma, because,
ultimately they want to trust the person that they hire trust them that they can
do the job that's involved that involves competence now preparation is an
interesting choice of terms because what do you mean by preparation I always
think of in terms of being a demonstration knowledge number one
Number two is can you interview well. have you rehearsed your answers to job
interview questions that you'll probably be asked and for all if you are them
trying to hire someone for this role what might you ask and being prepared
with answers to these kind of questions research research into a company how
hard is this do a search for their website look at LinkedIn for the
background of the individual so you have a sense of where they came, of
what their background is what level they're at and thus you can do
additional research. But, fundamentally, that's always the starting place is you
understand the background of the person who's interviewing you because a person
who's a technology manager is gonna interview differently than
an HR person, who's going to interview differently than the person two levels up
for you (sorry, my hand was off-camera). So, remember, it all starts off with
competence but they look for self- confidence, character, chemistry, maybe a
little charisma all of which add up the trust how do you inspire confidence that
you're the solution to Annie it's how you carry yourself the performance that
you put on during the interview because interviewing is theater and it's
important to deliver a good show. I'm Jeff Albin hope you found this
