Want to network at a virtual meeting or networking event? It's really very easy. I'm Jeff Altman,
The Big Game Hunter. I coach people. I coach organizations. I help people be more effective in
their job search, careers, work-life, in general.. And I did this recently at a meeting I attended.
Now,there tend to be two opportunities to really network..
One is if the host creates breakout situations and if you're a host of a networking group
or any sort of a virtual meeting, one of the smart things to do is create little breakouts
for discussion and encourage people to have short conversations on different topics. But if you're
the attendee and it doesn't look obvious for how to network, here's the simplest thing to do.
Someone asks a question and they've identified themselves and you now know their name and you
have an impression of them. Send them a private chat. "That's a good question. I'd like to pick
up on that after the meeting at some point. Can. I get your email address or your phone number?"
Then, you follow up with Them. Notice. Private chat is really the signal or the best way to reach
out to someone that you don't really know who's at the virtual meeting. and it starts off with
a compliment and thus you're going to reach out try and make a connection with them. Setup date
and time for the conversation and this becomes your way to start the networking conversation.
