No BS Career Advice

Getting Ready for a Recession

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

People hire me to provide No BS Career Advice because I make finding a job and succeeding in it easier.

With the US economy having become complicated, I thought I would devote this issue of No BS Career Advice to recession-proofing your career and your job. After all, the music is slowing down and if you are in an OK job or out of work aggressively job hunting, it is important to find a seat NOW before the music stops. Calendar year companies are finalizing budgets. How many do you think will be expanding hiring next year?

Analytics-focused tech sector firms have already begun layoffs and freezing hiring. Not startups (although many did so months ago). Firms in crypto, Meta, Google, Apple, Netflix, Amazon have all put the brakes on and/or slowed already.

My recommendations are not complete but are a good start for many of you with getting yourself in gear NOW while you can.

If you would like to speak with me because you want help with a job search (including critiquing your resume, interviewing well, negotiating, improving your LinkedIn presence, references or because you have a question, you can schedule a session with me using this link
