The Easiest Stupid Résumé Mistake to Fix

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter discusses the stupidest resume mistake people make and how easy it is to fix it.

What Should You Do If You Don’t Hear Back After Submitting Your Resume?

00:00:00 And I want to talk with you about were those stupid resume mistakes people make time and time again. It’s incredibly frustrating. It’s so avoidable and it’s ridiculous that people don’t do it more often. Here’s how to fix it. Ready? Spellcheck your resume. Now, this should go without saying, but it’s not done. You think your resume’s perfectly typed. Sometimes you’ve
00:00:29 got fat fingers. Sometimes you just don’t know how to spell the word. Just spell, check your resume. I saw a statistically reasonable recently that one spelling error can cause a resume to be rejected. Now I’m not going to do that. But I’m always going to investigate that person more thoroughly because I’m wondering where else this person got sloppy. I know clients to think that way they don’t necessarily reject, but they’re going to put that person through a bigger meat grinder
00:00:59 of an interview because they just want to make sure that sloppiness is not part of the pattern after all this time. We’re supposed to be trying to create a great impression. If you’re consciously trying to do that and you’re not spell-checking your resume, what’s going to happen when you naturally? The consciously created a great impression? So again, just take him in it. It’s not hard. All software all were processing software, has it.
00:01:30 So spell, check your resume, each stupid resume mistake, if you don’t. So this is Jeff open. This video is helpful. I was like a resumes last week. There was not a day, the wind, but I didn’t have five to 10 resumes and its spelling. Or by the way, if there’s unique language for your field, let’s say you work in information technology or engineering, and are products or services unique to your field visually check the spelling.
00:02:00 Just make sure because sometimes misspelled typing is a correct word, but it’s not the word that you want to use.

Great tip as usual. Also, run your LinkedIn profile through a
spell-checker. Easy to copy and paste into a MS Word document. There are
so many spelling errors in LI profiles. Remember misspelled keywords, in a
resume or LI profile, are not findable keywords.
