Howdy I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter and I'm back with an answer to
another question. Woo Woo! "Do companies schedule calls to reject candidates while waiting
for the final decision a recruiter contacted me today asking to have a
brief call next week. What could this mean?" Now, we don't know if it's an agency
recruiter or a corporate recruiter and in most cases it doesn't really matter
So, yes, it could be rejecting you and they may not have made a decision yet
but they just know they're not going to hire you
in which case just say thank you it could be that they want to talk with you
about what your thinking is about compensation because they want a
parameter test to see whether you're within the budget that they can get you
the right price it could be a million different things again we don't know how
long you've been waiting for this call or this contact it could be to see if
you're still available could see to see if you're still interested it could be
for any number of things including that they have the courtesy to let you know
that they're not going to hire you so there's a million reasons even if
they're still interviewing if they're still exploring if they haven't
officially made the offer as the one they're trying to make this contact
including they may have something else that you're a better fit for and they
want to see if you might still be interested hope you find this helpful
