Today, I’m having a construction crew coming to put in a trench system to deal with water in my basement. My wife is away and the burden is on me. The sound of jackhammers for an hour to is not my favorite sound but, you know, I’ll just have to deal with it.
Sometimes, I find that it’s impossible to change things and, thus, have to “suck it up.”
Sometimes, I have to do that with the client who is making unreasonable demands and my sunk cost investment had me committed so far that I couldn’t back out without losing a substantial amount of money.
Sometimes, I have to do that with a candidate for the same reason.
Sometimes, I could not delegate to someone else. It needed to rely on me.
Usually, the inconvenience is short-lived. I can whine and complain but it just makes it even less pleasant.
The choice of how you look at things is your own.
In my case I can think of how fortunate I am that will never have to stand with a shop vac in my basement pumping out water or I can think of the loud noises.
