Renegotiation is possible. But shall I wait to see the agreement based on the first offer (I proposed) then renegotiate?

    1. Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

If I understand correctly, you made a counter proposal to their offer. Yes, wait for a response. If they don’t respond in 24 hours, call and if necessary leave a vm. I have not heard back from you about my request. When do you expect I will hear that it has been ok’d?

I verbally accepted a # with a recruiter because I was nervous. This is a huge company and amazing opportunity and I didn’t want to blow it., is it too late to negotiate now that I have a offer letter in writing?

    1. Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

No! This is the last chance you will gave to do it. And tell them you will accept if they increase the offer

    2. Ramzi

@Jeff Altman, The Big Game HunterI also verbally accepted and I regret it. I did not receive the written offer just yet. Should I call back the hiring manager the next day and tell him that upon reflection I would like x amount, or wait for the written offer and read all the perks then renegotiate?

@Ramzi There is a lot I don’t know in your situation so it is hard to be sure. My instinct is to wait for the offer letter and then decide whether to negotiate for more. And, you have to make the decision because you know more than I do.

i have this dilemma right now i was nervous during the interview hahaha

i accidentally said a slightly lower amount during the verbal offer

whats the best thing to do ? my plan is to wait for the actual letter of offer and see how much they offer

  3. VIGNESH SRIDHARAN

I have accepted my offer letter digitally. Now I am having second offer and don’t want to miss my first offer but I would like to match my package to second offer package . I have 1 month time to join and is this correct to negotiate with first company after accepting offer . If yes , can you tell the sentence I can frame to discuss with HR ?

    1. Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

Congratulations on having a good problem! If I’m understanding the situation correctly, you received and accepted an offer from one company and now a second company extended an offer for more money. Go to the first company and say, “I stopped looking but a firm I interviewed with extended an offer for more money than yours. I prefer your job and would appreciate if you reconsidered and increase the offer to me to match the one I received from the other firm.” They may say no and I will leave you with the decision to make. Be prepared before the conversation with what you will do, rather than after a negative decision is communicated to you and emotions take hold. Good luck!

Hi Vignesh,. I have the same situation now. What you did? Is it correct to ask the first company to revise again after accepting offer?? Pls suggest

  4. GanArt

I have accepted one offer through e mail ,but I want to renegotiate my salary .Would it be possible??How can I communicat ???

  5. Alicia Trahan

How do you approach a salary discrepency. Party was quoted one hourly rate for PT work, after working a week found out it was a lower hourly rate. Didn’t get pay in writing, only in speaking with and confirming rate verbally with 2 hiring managers.

    Hey Jeff,
I have accepted an offer letter and going to join them in 15 days. Meanehile 2 days ago, i got a mid year increment in my current organization which was pending from few months.
So now shall i ask the new organization to revise my letter based on the mid year increment i received in my current organization ??
What exactly shall i say to them ?

    1. Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

Be clear in your mind about what you want the new firm to increase their offer to. Be clear as to whether you are willing to join if they do nothing. I moight say to my future manager, “Susan, my firm just increased my salary to >>>>. I didn’t expect it, it isn’t a counteroffer, they just increased my salary. I would really appreciate it of my offer was increased to >>>>. I’ll join regardless of whether they counter if you do.” Good luck.

@Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter Thanks Jeff for taking out time to get back to me. Let me be more specific about my scenario.
Lets say my current CTC IS 10 lac and the new offer was of 17 lac. And meanwhile i got an mid year increment by which my current salary is increased by 10 percent and now it is 11 lac.
I really want to join that new company. Now shall i ask them for offer adjustment according to 10 percent or the 1 lac ? 🤣
